Hanks, Lila Ann

Lila Ann Hanks of Sullivan, Missouri passed away at Life Care of Sullivan on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the age of 76 years.

Mrs. Hanks was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on March 2, 1934 to John E. and Erna (Gieselman) Steinbach. She made her home in the St. Louis area until coming to the Bourbon/Sullivan areas several years ago. On July 10, 1999 she was united in marriage to William Hanks. Lila was employed for a time with Scullen Steel Company in St. Louis and later became a cashier with Wal-Mart in Sullivan, where she worked the past 20 years. Lila loved to bake and made it her hobby. She would bake for all occasions and doing things for people. She also enjoyed children of all ages and taking short trips around the State in their motor home. Lila was a faithful member of Saint Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Sullivan.

She is survived by her husband William Hanks of the family home; three step-sons, William Dean Hanks of O’Fallon, Missouri, Gerald Lloyd and Curtis Floyd Hanks, both of St. Peter’s, Missouri; two brothers, John David Steinbach of Aiken, South Carolina and Alan Steinbach of Richmond, Virginia; other relatives and friends.

Memorial funeral services were conducted 5:00 p.m., Friday, July 23, 2010 from Saint Matthews Lutheran Church in Sullivan with Pastor Tim McCarty officiating. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
