Myrtle Victoria (nee Ratliff) Dunnegan, a long time resident of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the age of 95 years.

Myrtle was born on a farm in Reynolds County, Missouri to Robert Ratliff and Lular Imboden Ratliff on September 2, 1914. She was the sixth of seven children in the family and was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, and a dear and wonderful friend, Glen Stevens.

She was married to Tony Dunnegan in Carter County, Missouri on March 23, 1940. To this union one daughter, Rose Marie, was born.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Don Bartel of California; a grandson, Robert Sean Bartel of Singapore; special friend, Dorothy Cooper; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Myrtle was employed as a bookkeeper for an automobile dealer before her marriage. Her next employment was after the family moved to Sullivan. She worked at City Hall; first in the Collector’s Office and then as a billing clerk in the City Clerk’s Office.

Myrtle had a wide variety of interests and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Hospital Auxiliary, and First Presbyterian Church. For several years after retirement she delivered Meals on Wheels and often served as a poll worker at elections. She followed the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.

Myrtle enjoyed cooking for family, friends, and neighbors, especially an Angel Food cake for any new neighbors and pies for church and her grandson’s college friends.

Her yard and gardening during the spring and summer were her favorite activities; growing tomatoes, rhubarb, and lovely flowers which were a source of food and beauty. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church of Sullivan memorial Fund, 285 East Springfield Road, Sullivan, MO 63080.

Funeral Services were conducted at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Peter Rupprect officiating on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery.
