Thelma L. Schmuke Woodcock passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the age of 89 years.
Thelma was born and raised at Fletcher, Missouri and was the daughter of Luther and Edith McKean. She was employed with the U.S. Postal Service as a sorter. She found pleasure in flower gardening, cake decorating, and candy making. Thelma was an independent woman who enjoyed the company of her many grandchildren. She was first married to Vernon Joseph Schmuke who passed away in 1989. She was later married to John Woodcock. He, too, preceded her in death in 2005.
She is survived by her son; Jon K. Schmuke of Ballwin, Missouri; a brother, Warren McKean of Tucson, Arizona; a sister, Virginia Cross of Forest Hill, California; 7 grandchildren, Tom, Jon and Mike Schmuke, Krista Piazza, Karen Fonke, Rob Steffen and Ron Langendorf; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents and two husbands, Thelma was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne Steffen, three brothers, Frank, Floyd and Ross McKean and two sisters, Ann and Betty Sibole.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Chaplain Joey Peyton officiating. Interment was in Oddfellows Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, 615 Franklin Avenue, Washington, MO 63055
