Virginia W. Mathias, 93, homemaker, of Augusta, Kansas and formerly of Sullivan Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010 in Andover, Kansas.
Virginia was born in Crawford County, Missouri on February 7, 1917; the daughter of the late Lewis R. and Lucy Viola (Land) Walton. She graduated from Sullivan High School and married Gordian J. Mathias in 1938 at Lebanon, Missouri. Gordian preceded her in death in March of 1998.
Virginia is survived by a son, Wayne Mathias and wife Jane of Augusta, Kansas; a daughter, Susan Wilmont and husband David of Birmingham, Alabama; her sister, Opal Rohrer of Bourbon, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Lori Kuhlman, Ginger Fuller, Elizabeth Mathias, and Joy Gandy; and 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation was from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010 with a funeral service beginning at 2:30 all at Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri. Burial followed at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials may be made to the Wichita Eye Foundation, 625 N. Carriage Pkwy Suite 190, Wichita, Kansas 67208.
