Obituary for Philip A. Maixner

Philip A. Maixner, age 59, of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan.

Philip Andrew was born on August 11, 1958 to Andrew Joseph and Agnes Wilhelmina (Behan) Maixner in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from high school and went on to attend Jefferson College and obtaining an Associate’s Degree. Philip was employed at World Com in St. Louis, in telecommunications, until he was forced into retirement due to ill health. Phil and his wife, Velma Scofield, were blessed with 27 years of marriage. Velma preceded Phil in death in 2016. Phil and Velma moved to Sullivan in 1998 and were members of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where Phil played the keyboard and sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Phil was described as a social butterfly. He enjoyed visiting all of his relatives in St. Louis. He was also a tinkerer and especially loved working on cars. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Phil is survived by three step-children, Tammy Werner and husband Ed of High Ridge, MO, Brian Stevens and wife Angie of Sullivan and Eric Stevens; four grandchildren, Michael Lloyd, Leah Stevens, Aryn Stevens and Patrick Werner; two great-grandchildren, Dean Lloyd and Avery Stevens; seven siblings, Melinda Rehm of O’ Fallon, Robert Maixner of Jennings, James Maixner and wife Patty of St. Louis, Daniel Maixner and wife Joyce of O’ Fallon, Mark Maixner and wife Kathleen of Webster Groves, Jeanne Field of St. Louis and Pamela Boettcher and husband Kris of St. Charles; aunts & uncles, nieces & nephews, cousins and many friends.

Philip was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Maixner; his parents, Andrew J. and Agnes W. (Behan) Maixner and one brother-in-law, Ronald Field.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 2, 2018 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 7530 Natural Bridge Rd., Normandy, MO 63121. Father Nick Winker will be officiating. A luncheon will follow in the Parish Center.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Phil, may be given to the American Stroke Association, American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan and Bourbon, MO.
