Obituary for George R. Vincenc

George R. Vincenc, age 83, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis.

George Richard Vincenc was born on October 18, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Michael John and Catherine Mary (Stitz) Vincenc. He grew up and attended school at St. Peter & Paul in South St. Louis, graduating High School in 1953. As a young man, he was a driver for Coca-Cola, as well as working for a bowling alley as a pinsetter. Later, he began an Apprenticeship with Local 36 Sheet Metal Workers and he became a skilled welder and sheet metal journeyman, retiring in 1995. George was united in marriage to Mary Carey on July 4, 1964 in Sullivan, MO. To this union, one daughter was born, Nancy. They resided in Sullivan, where they attended St. Anthony Catholic Church. George was also a member of Masonic Lodge.

George was a very hard worker and always attended his union meetings. In his retirement years, he was able to do some traveling. George also liked to attend and have yard sales, do some gardening, and watching football, the St. Louis Cardinals and boxing. He was known for grilling BBQ pork steaks. George enjoyed time spent with family and liked visiting with people. You could always count on George being there, but you could bet he would be fashionably late.
