Obituary for Tommy Lynchard

Tommy Lynchard, age 94, of Bourbon, Missouri passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Life Care Center of Sullivan.

Tommy was born on May 9, 1923, one of 21 children, to Ed and Bessie Lynchard, in Silver City, Mississippi. He attended school in Mississippi and as a young man, went to work in the C. C. Camps to provide money for his family. At age 19, Tommy entered the United States Marine Corps and fought in the pacific during WWII at Roi Namur, Saipan and Iwo Jima. Tommy was a decorated veteran, earning two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star with V for valor. In Mississippi, on July 4, 1945, Tommy was united in marriage to Margie McHan. To this union, three sons were born, Tommy Jr., Jimmy and Gary. He then became a miner in Missouri at Meramec Mining Company (later known as Pea Ridge). Margie preceded Tommy in death in 1995. Tommy eventually met and married Beverly Hannafius, on November 20, 1999. Tommy and Beverly made their home in Bourbon and together, they enjoyed watching Cardinal’s Baseball and going to Flea Markets. Tommy loved his family, hunting, fishing, trapping and working on anything mechanical. Mr. Lynchard was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Bourbon.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Beverly (Hannafius) Lynchard of Bourbon; three sons, Tommy Lynchard, Jr. (wife, Sherry) of Raytown, MO, Jimmy Lynchard (wife, Sandra) of Sullivan, Gary Lynchard (wife, Kathy) of Bourbon; three step-children, Michael and Alan Perry of Muskogee, OK and Michelle Perry of Bourbon; four brothers, Harvey Lynchard (wife, Dovie) of KY, Lawrence Lynchard (wife, Barbara) and Billy Lynchard, all of LA, Buddy Lynchard (wife, Hilma Ruth) of TN; four sisters, Ruby Robinson of Florissant, Nancie Berg (husband, Clyde) of Lebanon, MO, Ruth Helbig (husband, George) of TX, Margie Meredith (husband, Jim) of MS; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Mr. Lynchard was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie (McHan) Lynchard; his parents, Ed and Bessie (Cannon) Lynchard; seven brothers and five sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, at First Baptist Church in Bourbon.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Bourbon with Pastor Roy Fikac and Mr. Mike King officiating. Interment will follow in Lea Cemetery in Leasburg with full military honors.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan and Bourbon, Missouri.
